14 Dec 08 Sunday

It was a raining day....It's been raining since the previous night and I think it will be raining the whole of today. Guess our tennis this afternoon will probably be off....

Went to Ellenborough market at Merchant Court Hotel for buffet lunch. It was actually a birthday treat for KT that was supposed to be due since 15Nov08. We were at Japan at that time and KT was stuck in BKK 2 wks after our honeymoon so the treat was delayed till now.

I chosen this hotel for buffet coz I thought it would be nice to have some peranakan food as well as a mixture of International buffet.

Actually I am not a fan of buffet..In fact I kind of dislike going for buffet..coz I am not a big eater....and I always feel very xin ku after most meal.....But decided to go for it..since I am going to give KT a birthday treat..a buffet that he has been longing for.

But I was quite disappointed. There were only 3 dishes of peranakan food. One curry vege, one curry babi and one curry chicken....No oyster..nothing much on seafood..

Hmm..I think the seafood buffet at Marina Square has more spread is even more worth it. One of the reason I chose Merchant Court was because I thought the ambience woul dbe much better being a reowned hotel. But I was quite disappointed. It was rowdy and there were many people. Just like some market place...hmmm......

My limited buffet spread

Let me rate the few buffet hotel that I have been to according to the Spread and Ambience.

1) Line at Shangri-La (Nice Spread & Average Ambience)

2) One-Ninety restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel (Nice Spread & Nice Ambience)

3) Carousel at Royal Plaza on Scotts (Avg Spread & Below Avg Ambience)

4) Melt at Mandarin Oriental (Ave Spread & Avg Ambience)

5) Pariss International Seafood Buffet @Orchard (Nice spread of Seafood but Avg Ambience for a avg Restaurant - Value for Money)

6) Ellenborough Market Café @ Swissotel Merchant Court (Limited Spread & Lousy Ambience)
