It wasn't a fantastic week...at work....and I think I am feeling breathless again.....and my team member irresponsibility attitude...even worsen my condition...I have start to lose patient talking to him....

Well...this guy was supppose to complete something last Fri to be send out to my PM overseas....At6pm, he finish generating his files

Mr XXX: I finish generating the file. Can you check.

Me: Have you check?

Mr XXX: Nope

Me: Can you please check first? I will only check after you have checked your stuff.

Sigh...what kind of attitude is it....getting me to check his thing even without checking his own work....I seriously don't understand this 38 yrs old guy mentality......what is he thinking. Is he plain lazy or???? Yet he still keep telling me about how great how great is he at work...I seriously begin to doubt it long ago.....

Well..Then after checking at while, he told me after he change his codes, he realise many accounts are missing....So I ask him to find out the reason why, check already then send out to my PM overseas.....

This Tuesday, I had a chat with my PM. PM ask me why are so many accounts missing. I was at a loss of words.....so I said I will ask XXX to check as I have not view exactly what what he has send out..."I thought I could trust him"

Well, I ask him

Me: Thought you said you discover missing accounts? Why did you still send out the file despite that?

XXX: I debug for about an hour couldn't find out why. So i Send out.

Goodness gracious. How can he actually do that??? This is so irresponsible of him.

Me: so now have you found out the reason why?

XXX: I forgot to do a outer join link so all the base accounts were missing.

ME: I thought the most fundatmental checking.....is to check that the total accounts retreived is correct?

Well...he keep quiet lor.....as usual....he will explain many things and a lot of excuses to cover up for his mistakes....I already immuned to it. Just don't understand why he cannot admit to his mistake?? Is it plain egositic?

Back to Tuesday. My PM ask me what happen to the accounts. I told him XXX make a mistake in the codes and thus the missing accounts.

Well....that XXX knows about it and is damn UNHAPPY.....and had a heated argument with him....he says

XXX: Why msut I pinpoint him.

ME: PM already know he is the one who did the coding. So i just told him what is the error made on a high level basis....

XXX: Even I make an error. you don't have to pinpoint me and so personal to mention I make the mistake....
You could have tell him what is the techincal checks he have done to make sure such errors does not happen again.

ME: You think the boss is so busy and he is interested to know such low level techincal things you going to enhance? As a PM, you think he is interested to know all the techincal he did?
All he is interested is the final output and deliverables.

XXX: I still think you need to tell him that all the technical things he did.

ME: I think there is no such need if you want, you can write to him yourself.

Well..the conversation ended in a very unhappy and agitated mood...

Obviously I wasn't too happy. I went to tell him company PM(head) about what happen and he need to talk to his staff....

3 of us ended up in the room....

Well...his head...did agree that "The overseas PM will not be interested in those low level thing and no point telling him those things. What he wants is the deliverables."

He did tell his staff that me as team lead..I should also decide all this and he shoudl listen to me...

Guess what he add on?

XXX Boss: Aiyah sometimes man more egoistic. Like me I make mistake at home sometimes I also insist to my wife to give me face... coz I am a man.

Me: I told him..that is personal things between him and his wife at home...At work we got to be more professional...All this things about egositic does not apply at work....
When you make a mistake, you admit it and ensure the other party that such things will not happen again....

What is he trying to tell me???? Tell me to give face to his staff coz he is a 38 years old man???What is that Crap....*I very agitated le*...Not professional at all..

XXX Boss: Why don't both of you change seat? work might be better if we change seat...soemtimes..he believe in this feng shui thing.

Me: Comon. don't give me that crap. Is all about being professional and the attitude at work...I dont believe al this changing seat will change his attitude....

XXX Boss: Well I believe and I will do whatever it takes to make things better....

Me: And do you know besides telling XXX what to do everyday, I have to be liek his PA write his summary email on things to do for that day.... coz XXX say he is busy and too troubleoem for him to write down what needs to be done....What is that attitude...It is his own forgetfulness and he is not willing to do anyting to it...and I ahve to behave like his PA.

I was thinking to myself..Aren't I like his PA?

XXX: Aiyah...colleagues got to give and take ma.....help one another....

What is that crap again???? Obviously he is siding with his staff....Obviously I wasn't happy...
Well...I will see how things goes this week..continue to monitor his attitue...If things goes on this way..then sorry lor...not my pasar...he got to answer for his own attitude...
